DEC Arrests Infamous Drug Trafficker Henry Kasolo in Major Cannabis Operation

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has apprehended Henry Shula Kasolo, a well-known and highly sought-after drug trafficker from Lusaka’s Leopards Hill area.

Kasolo, aged 53, was arrested for allegedly trafficking 117 packets of compressed, high-grade cannabis, weighing a total of 73.9 kilograms. The drugs were hidden inside four suitcases.

According to DEC Public Relations Officer Allan Tamba, authorities also confiscated $10,200 in U.S. currency and K6,000, suspected to be proceeds of illegal activity.

A Toyota Hilux, believed to have been used in the drug trafficking operation, was also impounded.

Mr. Tamba revealed that Kasolo, who had long been under DEC surveillance, tried to bribe officers with K60,000 in an attempt to secure his release and that of his co-accused.

Two Thai nationals, Phuwanat Hansongkram (25) and Den Wangngae (30), have been named as Kasolo’s accomplices.

Additionally, Kasolo is linked to a separate case involving 204.7 kilograms of compressed cannabis seized at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in 2024. The contraband was falsely labeled as catalytic powder and was intended for shipment to Europe.
