HH Signs 5 Bills into Law, Education Access Now Guaranteed
President Hakainde Hichilema has signed five important bills into law, describing the move as part of the government’s ongoing reform agenda aimed at transforming Zambia’s economy and improving the lives of citizens.
Among the bills signed into law are the Education Amendment Bill 2026, the National Pension Scheme Bill 2026, the Public Service Pensions Bill 2026, the Pension Scheme Regulation (Amendment) Bill 2026, and the Local Authorities Superannuation Bill 2026.
President Hichilema said the newly enacted laws demonstrate government’s commitment to strengthening key sectors of the economy while enhancing social protection for citizens.
One of the most significant pieces of legislation is the Education Amendment Bill 2026, which now guarantees every child’s right to access education.
The President noted that the law aligns with government’s broader objective of ensuring that all children, regardless of their background, have an opportunity to receive quality education.
The pension-related reforms are expected to improve the management, sustainability, and effectiveness of pension schemes while safeguarding the welfare of workers and retirees.
The signing of the five bills marks another milestone in the New Dawn administration’s efforts to implement reforms designed to stimulate economic growth, improve service delivery, and promote inclusive development.
Government says the reforms will contribute to building a stronger and more resilient Zambia while creating opportunities for future generations.
