Zambian Rapper Shares Love Story on Kenny T 1 ON 1 Podcast
Top Zambian artist Jay Rox has opened up about how he met his wife, Don Estelle Mantel, in an interview on Kenny T 1 ON 1 Podcast. The award-winning rapper revealed that their first encounter wasn’t picture-perfect she hired him to perform at her fashion show but never paid immediately.
Jay Rox recalled that Estelle had booked him for a fashion event, but when the performance ended, the promised payment was delayed. After asking for his money several times, she finally agreed to meet him at an ATM, where she paid, though reluctantly. “She wasn’t happy because she felt it was a little bit more hostile,” Jay Rox admitted, laughing about it years later.
Despite the rocky start, the two later crossed paths at a friend’s house, where they had a chance to ease the tension. Jay Rox shared that winning Estelle’s heart wasn’t easy—sometimes she ignored him for a week—but he kept pushing. His breakthrough moment came when she asked him to help fix an electronic device. As an IT specialist, he made the issue seem bigger just to spend more time with her, a move that gave her a glimpse of his softer side.
Today, Jay Rox and Don Estelle Mantel are happily married and raising a beautiful family of five children three boys and two girls, with their eldest currently studying law. Their love story, which began with an unpaid show, has grown into one of Zambia’s most inspiring celebrity marriages.
