Arresting Officer Testifies in Pastor John General Rape Case
The trial of Miracle Impact Ministries International overseer, Pastor John Nundwe—popularly known as John General—continued before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, with arresting officer Assistant Superintendent Wellington Fwelanga testifying on the matter. Pastor Nundwe is accused of allegedly raping a woman in Matero on November 22, 2023.
In his testimony, Superintendent Fwelanga told the court that there was insufficient clinical laboratory evidence to conclusively support the charge of rape. He further revealed that the victim did not see the accused’s private parts but only claimed to have felt them. This testimony comes as the prosecution continues to present its case against the clergyman.
According to particulars of the offence, Pastor Nundwe is alleged to have unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a Matero woman without her consent. The case has sparked widespread public interest, given the pastor’s high-profile position within the church. Proceedings are ongoing as the court works to determine the merits of the evidence presented.
