Wicknell Chivayo Gift List: Cars, Cash and Millions in Pledges
Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo became widely known for publicly announcing large gifts of luxury vehicles and cash to musicians, religious figures, sports personalities, media figures, business associates and community groups.
A compilation circulating online lists dozens of beneficiaries and vehicles allegedly gifted or pledged by Chivayo over recent years. Some individual items in the compilation have been independently reported by Zimbabwean media, while others should be treated as reported claims rather than independently verified figures.
MUSICIANS AND ENTERTAINERS
Among the most prominent beneficiaries has been musician Jah Prayzah.
Reports have documented several gifts to the musician and people around him, including luxury vehicles, cash and cars for members of his band. In July 2026, Chivayo announced a 2026 Ford Ranger Platinum and US$250,000 cash for Jah Prayzah’s birthday.
Earlier gifts included a Mercedes-Benz, Range Rover Autobiography, Land Rover Defender and other vehicles, while his band members and dancers also received vehicles and cash.
Other musicians reported as beneficiaries include Alick Macheso, Sulumani Chimbetu, Sandra Ndebele, Killer T, Mambo Dhuterere, Nicholas Zakaria, Jeys Marabini, Andy Muridzo, Mathias Mhere, Diana Samkange, Sniper Storm, Jah Master, Tocky Vibes, DJ Fantan, Madam Boss, Dorcas Moyo, Olivia Charamba, Leonard Zhakata and Mechanic Manyeruke.
A September 2025 compilation by The Observer Zim estimated that Chivayo had spent more than US$15 million on cars, cash and other gifts since January 2024, although such aggregate estimates depend on reported vehicle valuations and publicly announced gifts.
CHURCH AND RELIGIOUS FIGURES
Chivayo’s gifting has also extended extensively into religious circles.
The reported beneficiaries include Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, Prophet Walter Magaya, Prophet Ian Ndlovu, Lawrence Katsiru, Violet Katsiru, Israel Muhana and other church members and leaders.
His own website lists, among other donations, a US$1 million contribution to the Zion Christian Church, vehicles for church leaders and vehicles for members of Johanne Masowe eChishanu.
More recently, Chivayo announced a package for 12 United Family International Church members, comprising 10 Toyota Fortuners, two Toyota Land Cruiser LC300s and US$140,000 in fuel money.
SPORTS AND FOOTBALL
The football sector has also featured prominently.
Reported beneficiaries and organisations include Peter Ndlovu, Moses Chunga, Scottland FC and Highlanders FC.
Chivayo has publicly documented a US$1 million donation to Scottland FC and the provision of 20 Toyota Aqua vehicles to the club’s players.
MEDIA AND PUBLIC FIGURES
The list also includes media personalities such as Reuben Barwe, Mai Chisamba, DJ Towers and Charles Mabika.
In May 2025, Barwe was publicly reported to have received a new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 VXR together with US$100,000 cash.
FRIENDS, BUSINESS ASSOCIATES AND LAWYERS
Chivayo’s generosity has not been restricted to entertainers and religious figures.
His reported beneficiaries include Tazvi Mhaka, Busisa Moyo, Dr Nicholas Ndebele and Lucy Chivayo, among others.
On September 30, 2026, Chivayo announced major gifts for two lawyers he described as long-standing friends and advisers. Wilson Tatenda Manase was promised a 2026 Lexus GX 550 valued at about US$220,000 plus US$250,000 cash, while Advocate Sylvester Hashiti was promised a 2026 Range Rover Sport Autobiography and US$500,000 cash.
US$2 MILLION FOR FAMILIES OF FALLEN NATIONAL HEROES
In September 2026, Chivayo announced a US$2 million pledge for 40 families of Zimbabwe’s fallen national heroes, with each family set to receive US$50,000.
The pledge was made as part of a birthday tribute to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who turned 84 on September 15, 2026. Chivayo said the gesture was intended to support the welfare of surviving spouses and children of national heroes.
This corrects the “85th birthday” reference in the supplied list: contemporary reports describe it as Mnangagwa’s 84th birthday.
HIS FINAL PUBLIC GIFT ANNOUNCEMENTS
The gifts announced to Manase and Hashiti on September 30 attracted additional attention because they came only hours before reports of Chivayo’s death in a helicopter crash in the Marondera area.
Reports say six people aboard the helicopter died, with Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, among those identified as victims.
The timing has generated considerable discussion online, but there is no evidence that Chivayo’s final post indicated that he knew the crash was going to occur. That interpretation has come from readers and social-media users rather than from the post itself.
A GIFTING SPREE THAT BECAME PART OF HIS PUBLIC IMAGE
From musicians and church leaders to football clubs, journalists, friends and charitable causes, Chivayo’s publicly announced gifts became a major part of his public profile.
The amounts involved ranged from relatively modest cash gifts to vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and multimillion-dollar pledges.
Because many of the figures circulating online are based on announcements, reported vehicle values or media compilations, the list should not be treated as an independently audited accounting of Chivayo’s total wealth or expenditure.
