Zambia Seeks Military Honours for Late President Lungu

The Zambian government has formally requested that the late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu be granted full military honours by South Africa during the repatriation of his remains.

In addition, Zambia has extended heartfelt appreciation to the South African government for its support and solidarity in the wake of President Lungu’s passing.

Delivering a special message from President Hakainde Hichilema, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe thanked South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for the assistance provided.

A statement released to ZNBC News in Lusaka today indicated that Mr. Haimbe praised South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation for its strong collaboration and unwavering support during this difficult time.

He also emphasized that the ongoing cooperation during the mourning period underscores the strong and lasting ties between the two nations.
