ZNBC Parts Ways with Director General Berry Lwando
The ZNBC Board has mutually agreed to part ways with Director General Berry Lwando, marking a significant leadership change at the national broadcaster.
The development was confirmed by Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, who disclosed in an interview that Mr Lwando’s last working day was Friday, January 23, 2026.
Mr Kawana stated that the decision was reached amicably between the ZNBC Board and Mr Lwando, although further details surrounding the separation were not disclosed.
Following Mr Lwando’s departure, ZNBC Director of Legal Services, Reuben Kajokoto, has been appointed Acting Director General with immediate effect and will serve until further notice.
Berry Lwando was appointed Director General of ZNBC in 2023, serving during a period marked by reforms and restructuring efforts at the public broadcaster.
ZNBC has not yet announced plans regarding the appointment of a substantive Director General.
