Omarion Reveals He Went Three Years Without Sex at Height of His Fame
American singer and entertainer Omarion has opened up about a period of intense personal discipline, revealing that he went three years without having sex while he was at the height of his fame.
Speaking on Shawn Stockman’s On That Note podcast in November 2025, Omarion explained that the decision was connected to a period in his life when he was searching for greater spiritual strength and personal control.
He described himself as “a young man who was spiritually searching for strength and personal control over myself and my body.”
Looking back on the experience, Omarion admitted that the three-year period now sounds surprising even to him.
“I did it for three years. Now I look back, I be like, ‘Sheesh.’ ‘Cause I love women,” he said.
For Omarion, however, the experience was not simply about abstaining from sex. He said the discipline gave him a greater sense of control over his decisions and taught him that he could walk away from things when he wanted to.
He explained that the experience gave him the confidence to say no.
“I just had the power to say no to anything. Like yo, if I don’t want to do something, I could stop today,” he said.
The singer has also previously spoken about his views on intimacy and the physical and emotional connections that can develop between people.
During a 2024 appearance on André Duqum’s Know Thyself podcast, Omarion discussed his belief in “soul ties” and described intimate relationships as involving a deeper physical connection between people.
He also explained that controlling certain physical desires was part of his personal discipline. According to Omarion, he believed that if he could develop control over food and sex, he would be able to strengthen his overall self-control.
His comments have since sparked conversation among fans, particularly because abstaining from sex for three years is an unusual decision for someone who was navigating fame, relationships and the entertainment industry during that period.
Omarion’s story ultimately presents abstinence as a personal experiment in discipline rather than a universal prescription. His experience raises a question for fans and listeners: Could you go three years without sex if you decided to?
For Omarion, the experience appears to have been less about denying himself and more about discovering whether he could control his impulses and make decisions on his own terms.
