Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, has emphasized the need for improved connectivity across Africa to unlock wider trade opportunities.
Speaking to journalists during the U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Angola, Mr. Tayali stressed the importance of expanding access to diverse trade markets across the continent.
He praised the Lobito Corridor as a game-changing infrastructure initiative with the potential to positively impact multiple countries in the region.
Mr. Tayali further highlighted the role of upcoming infrastructure developments along the corridor in facilitating smoother trade among participating nations. He underscored the need to upgrade border facilities to minimize delays in goods clearance and boost regional commerce.
He recalled that on October 27, 2023, Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States, the European Union, the African Development Bank, and the Africa Finance Corporation to advance the Lobito Corridor.
