Carlo Ancelotti Sentenced to Prison in Spanish Tax Fraud Case

Renowned Italian football manager Carlo Ancelotti has been handed a prison sentence in connection with a tax fraud case related to his time managing Real Madrid.

According to reports from Spanish media, Ancelotti has received a suspended prison sentence of four months after reaching a deal with prosecutors. The case revolves around alleged tax evasion amounting to €386,361 during the 2014 tax year, when Ancelotti was coaching the Spanish giants.

Authorities accused the veteran coach of failing to declare earnings from his image rights, despite having declared his regular salary. The prosecution argued that Ancelotti used a complex web of companies to conceal this income from Spain’s tax agency.

Although the sentence is official, Ancelotti is not expected to serve time behind bars, as Spanish law typically suspends sentences under two years for first-time, non-violent offenders. The Real Madrid manager has also reportedly agreed to pay the outstanding amount in full.

This legal issue comes just weeks after Ancelotti led Real Madrid to another Champions League title, further solidifying his legacy as one of football’s most successful managers.

Despite the controversy, there has been no immediate impact on his role at Real Madrid, and the club has not issued a formal statement regarding the case.
