Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly as Lusaka Woman (40) Allegedly Kills Husband (22)

A shocking incident has rocked Lusaka after a 40-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her 22-year-old husband to death following a heated domestic dispute at Soweto Market.

The suspect, identified as Mary Zulu, is accused of attacking her husband, Gerald Mwanga, after accusing him of infidelity — a confrontation that tragically turned deadly.

What Happened?

According to police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi, the matter was reported at Soweto Police Post around 19:37 hours on March 30. However, the incident is believed to have occurred earlier on March 28 at approximately 16:00 hours.

During the altercation, Mwanga sustained a deep stab wound to his back, leaving nearby traders and members of the public in shock.

Public Intervention and Hospital Transfer

Members of the public quickly intervened and managed to apprehend the suspect before authorities arrived. Mwanga was rushed to Kanyama Level One Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to University Teaching Hospitals, where he sadly passed away around 19:30 hours on March 30 while receiving treatment.

Charges Escalated

Initially, Mary Zulu was detained for unlawful wounding. However, following Mwanga’s death, the case has since been escalated to a more serious charge.

Police have confirmed that she remains in custody as investigations continue.

Community Reaction

The incident has sparked widespread reactions among Lusaka residents, with many expressing shock over the tragic turn of events in what began as a domestic dispute.

The case has once again brought attention to the growing concern of domestic violence, with calls for stronger conflict resolution mechanisms and support systems within relationships.
