Watch Video: TikToker Goes Viral on Telegram

A Lusaka-based TikToker has gone viral after clips from her account were widely reshared on Telegram this week. The short videos, originally posted to TikTok, made their way into multiple large Zambian Telegram groups and channels, where views quickly multiplied.

The content that caught attention features Til’s signature mix of quick comedy skits and trending audio challenges. Telegram users began forwarding the clips across groups, with some compilations racking up tens of thousands of views in under 48 hours. The rapid sharing sparked new memes and reaction stickers using Til’s expressions.

Unlike TikTok’s algorithm-driven feed, the spread on Telegram was driven by direct forwarding and reposting in community channels. Group admins in entertainment and pop culture channels picked up the videos, crediting Til and linking back to her TikTok page. That cross-platform jump sent a surge of new followers to her account.

By Wednesday, “Til” was trending in several Lusaka-based Telegram groups, with users debating which skit was the funniest. Local content creators noted how Telegram is becoming a major secondary platform for Zambian TikTokers to reach audiences who prefer group chats over scrolling feeds.

Til responded to the attention in a short TikTok post, thanking viewers and saying she was “shocked” to see her videos moving so fast on Telegram. She hinted at more skits coming this weekend to keep up with the new audience.

The moment highlights how fast local content can cross platforms in Zambia. A creator’s work can start on TikTok, but Telegram’s share-heavy culture is now a key driver for viral reach, especially when humor hits the right note with group chats.
