He said other affected provinces include Southern Province (44 cases), Lusaka (41 cases), Copperbelt (37 cases), Muchinga (8 cases), North-Western (5 cases) and Central Province (2 cases).
Dr Muchima noted that Luapula, Western and Eastern provinces have not recorded any cholera cases so far, although enhanced surveillance and preparedness measures remain in place.
The Health Minister revealed that 17 cholera patients are currently admitted in Lusaka District. He further announced that the Ministry of Health plans to administer oral cholera vaccines to 500 inmates in Monze as part of preventive measures.
On other public health concerns, Dr Muchima disclosed that Zambia recorded 241 confirmed measles cases between January and December 2025, prompting targeted vaccination campaigns and intensified surveillance.
He also confirmed that the country continues to maintain strong polio surveillance through active case searches and environmental sampling. Regarding Mpox, Zambia has tested over 2,000 suspected cases since October 2024, with 367 confirmed cases recorded so far.
