Dan Pule Consults Tonse Alliance on 2026 Presidential Bid

Christian Democratic Party (CDP) President Dan Pule has revealed that he is consulting leaders within the Tonse Alliance to determine whether he will contest the 2026 general elections as a sole presidential candidate. This comes after the CDP officially endorsed him as its presidential candidate following an uncontested convention held over the weekend.

Professor Pule confirmed that he went unopposed at the party’s convention, effectively securing the CDP presidential ticket for the 2026 polls. He stated that consultations within the Tonse Alliance are aimed at ensuring unity and strategic alignment ahead of the elections. He further emphasized that the CDP intends to participate fully in the 2026 elections at presidential, parliamentary, and local government levels.

Professor Pule added that the convention was conducted peacefully and in line with legal requirements. He noted that the Zambia Police Service was informed in advance of the meeting, ensuring law and order throughout the event. The CDP leadership has since described the convention as a successful step toward strengthening the party’s readiness for the upcoming elections.
