President Hakainde Hichilema has officially sworn in three senior officials, calling them to national duty with a clear and firm message on leadership and responsibility. The ceremony marked a significant moment as the appointees take on strategic roles in diplomacy, public finance oversight, and infrastructure development.
Mr. Joseph Akafumba was sworn in as High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a key diplomatic post expected to strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Zambia and Nigeria. His appointment signals government’s intent to deepen engagement within the African continent.
Ms. Jamie Mukuwa assumed office as Controller of Internal Audits, a critical position tasked with ensuring accountability, transparency, and proper management of public resources. The role carries significant responsibility in safeguarding government systems against financial mismanagement.
Meanwhile, Ms. Andiseya Phiri Lengalenga was sworn in as Director General of the Public Private Partnership Agency. The agency plays a vital role in facilitating partnerships between government and private investors, particularly in infrastructure and development projects aimed at accelerating national growth.
In his address, President Hichilema delivered a direct message to the newly appointed officials: hard work, integrity, commitment to mission, confidentiality, and patriotism must guide their service. He emphasized that public office is not about personal gain but about delivering results for the Zambian people.
The swearing-in ceremony underscored the administration’s expectations of discipline and professionalism in public service. With these appointments, the President has placed trust in experienced hands — but the real test begins now, as the nation looks to these leaders to execute their mandates with dedication and accountability.
