The Zambian Government has announced the death of Zambia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ivan Zyuulu, who passed away after an illness.
In a statement issued on Friday, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick K. Kangwa confirmed that Ambassador Zyuulu died on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.
The government said funeral proceedings are being held at House No. 28, Boniface Simutowe Road, Presidential Housing Initiative, Lusaka, where family, friends, colleagues, and members of the public are expected to pay their respects.
Mr. Kangwa added that burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
Ambassador Zyuulu served as Zambia’s envoy to the People’s Republic of China, one of Zambia’s most significant diplomatic and economic partners. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation between the two countries.
His passing marks a significant loss to Zambia’s diplomatic service and the nation at large.
Government is expected to provide further details regarding funeral and burial arrangements as preparations continue.
The nation joins the bereaved family in mourning the loss of a distinguished public servant who dedicated his career to representing Zambia on the international stage.
